Trapholt Art Museum

Trapholt is a museum, where you can find famous designer furniture and pictures from modern artists.

Visitors come from all over the world to see the amazing array of exhibitions, performances, and programs but also to experience the museum’s architecture, the one-of-a-kind summer house designed by the famous architect Arne Jacobsen.  


About the Museum

Throughout Trapholt visitors will be meet by TRAPguides that are trained to help assist and offer the visitors. Explore Trapholt on a guided tour. The museum also focuses a lot on their children visitors with a varied range of options and activities the small ones can explore together with adults.

Trapholt focuses on three different categories in connection with the series of permanent and temporary exhibitions throughout the year. The target for the museum is to display aesthetically enticing displays current, debate creating exhibits and compelling insights into design and art history.


You will find Trapholt Museum consist of total 2500 square meters of exhibition space divided into eight galleries. It is a unique architectural designed building; each gallery has breathtaking views and specific character. All galleries are accessible from the main museum walkway, and Trapholt is also a very handicap friendly museum.

The Trapholt Collections

In the museum, you find a fine collection of Danish furniture design, modern Danish visual art, and sculptures, a permanent Richard Mortensen exhibition, Ceramics, textiles and product designs.

In the sculpture park, it is possible to see the famous Danish designer Arne Jacobsen’s Cube flex summer house.


Shop & Restaurant

At Trapholt you will find unique design treasures in the museum shop. Explore the breathtaking views and offers from the restaurant too.


Location

It is located in Kolding in Southern Denmark and is one of the most famous art museums in Denmark.

Trapholt opened in 1988 and added additional exhibition space and collection storage in 1996. The Museum is placed in a beautiful sculpture park overlooking the water of Kolding Fjord.
