Getting to Greenland

Travellers to Greenland primarily arrives with an aeroplane on specially arranged tours.


Airlines & Airports

Air Greenland operates regular flights from Copenhagen to the main international airport in Kangerlussuaq, and seasonal flights between Keflavik in Iceland and the Greenland’s capital Nuuk.


Air Iceland flies year round from Reykjavik Domestic Airport to Kulusuk in East Greenland and the capital Nuuk in West Greenland. Air Iceland also operates seasonal flights to Narsarsuaq in South Greenland, the capital Nuuk, Ilulissat in the Disko Bay, and Ittoqqortoormiit in North East Greenland.

It is also possible to fly between Greenland and Canada. Air Greenland operates between Nuuk and Iqaluit, from where there are same-day connections to virtually all of Canada, for example, Ottawa, Vancouver, St. John's and Goose Bay.

Approximate flight time: 

Copenhagen to Narsarsuaq, Kangerlussuaq or Nuuk = 4,5 hours
Reykjavik to Narsarsuaq and Nuuk = 3 hours.


Cruises to Greenland

There are no ferry connections between Greenland, Denmark, Iceland or Canada. However, more and more cruise shipping companies are choosing to include Greenland on their itineraries, and they often start in Iceland, but more cruise companies also have cruises from Canada, Europe, and the USA.
