The Funen Village Museum

The Funen Village is a Danish open-air museum located Odense. Here you can see 25 buildings most of which date to the 18th and 19th century.

The Funen Village is a perfect way to show and at the same time directly get involved in the living in the times of Hans Christian Andersen. In Funen Village Museum you can take back in time and experience how it was to live in Denmark more than 200 years ago when the famous fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen lived in Odense also with domestic animals and gardens from this time.

What you can discover and enjoy

In the Village, you can join a full programme of event and activities.  Farmworkers and kitchen maids and many other figures bring history in live and they show stories about it was to live in the 19th century which was the period that the world-renown author Hans Christian Andersen’s lived in Denmark.

They create an atmosphere and tell stories about how people lived on Funen in the 19th century, i.e. in Hans Christian Anderse
