Barøy is located in Vestfjorden, at the beginning of Ofotfjorden and Tjeldsundet, where the fjord meets the sea. Barøy Lighthouse has been a guiding light since 1903. Previously home to the lighthouse families, the lighthouse was automated in 1980.

The Lighthouse appears as it was left in 1980, but is still in very good condition. The original interior, colours on the floor and walls are intact.
