Visit the oldest family-run hotel in Norway
Right beside the fjord in the idyllic village of Solvorn in Luster lies Walaker Hotel. The hotel, which has been inherited from generation to generation, is a charming family hotel and an attraction in itself, located in the middle of the world`s best tourist destination, according to National Geographic.
Most of the building dates from about 1630-1650, when it was a coaching inn and guest house. The building that stands today is as it was in 1934. The architect Lindstrøm designed the building.
The hotel has been owned by the same family since 1690 and is the oldest family-run hotel in Norway, with over 370 years of history.
There are 4 rooms on the upper floor with a fjord view, while 3 rooms have a view upwards to the valley. Rooms 20 and 23 are our biggest and best, with the most fantastic view of the rose garden and fjord. All the rooms are historical.
The area around Solvorn and Walaker Hotel can offer many wonderful experiences. We would therefore recommend staying 2 nights, so that your body can find peace. This is one of the world's most outstanding destinations. Among sea green fjords and exuberant mountains you will find waterfalls, glaciers, rivers, stave churches and art galleries, just to name a few.
There are some wonderful walking opportunities here too. Just put on your walking shoes and enjoy the wonderful walk to Setålen, or Molden for example, where you have a 360 degree view of the area. We have many good suggestions for sightseeing trips in reception and would be happy to share them with you.
