Stay on one of Denmark's cosy characteristic country roads inns nearby Aarhus.
It all began with an illicit tavern here at the crossroads in Nørre Vissing. It was a good place to stop and have a chat while eating salted herrings with a good mug of beer and one or two drinks of aquavit.
In 1801 the inn moved to its present spot and at the same time, the inn was royally licensed. This meant that the innkeeper had a monopoly of brewing beer and distilling spirits. Today the 200-year old inn, which was renovated from top to bottom a couple of years ago, greets the travellers with its brightly shining lavender blue walls.
All the inn s rooms have bath and toilet. You can choose between standard rooms with a terrace in the annex next to the inn and luxury rooms in the inn s main building. These rooms with a balcony and a good view all differ as each room has its own distinct theme.
While sitting in the restaurant and enjoying the beautiful flower decorations made by the inn s own florist you will detect that the menu, among other things, offers a sense menu of the season comprising a whole evening performance with an overture and several acts. The chef uses to a wide extent local ingredients such as zander, pike and perch from the lakes and mushrooms, snails and game from the woods.
Situated in the magnificent mid-Jutland lake highlands with the Himmelbjerg lakes and the vast forests. Hiking tours through woodland and fields can begin right outside the inn. Child-friendly beaches at the lake Knudsø (5 km) and rental of canoes, kayaks and rowboats in Ry (7 km). Five golf courses within a radius of approx. 50 km.
