The Schengen Area

Schengen is the world`s largest passport-free zone.

The Schengen Area covers most of Europe because 22 EU countries are members of Schengen and 4 outside EU has joined the agreement, and this is Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Lichenstein.

The 2 EU countries U.K. and Ireland have chosen to stay outside the Schengen area.

The agreement is named after the small village in Luxembourg, where the agreement was signed on 14 June 1985.

Tourist can travel around the Schengen countries from Portugal to the north of Finland.
