The Karen Blixen Museum

Visit the museum of the world famous Danish writer Karen Blixen.

Many great artists and writers show during childhood and early adolescence desire to express themselves in the form of poems, short stories and sketches. This also applies to Karen Blixen - born Dinesen in 1885. The museum takes you on a journey through this woman`s  amazing life, until her death in 1962.

Rungstedlund

As an 8-year-old, she writes "Verse by Karen Dinesen 1893" and in the years to come, she continues fairy tales, stories and plays, as she behaves at home at Rungstedlund along with her sisters and friends. The notebooks in which she writes is filled with drawings of goblins and landscapes, portraits of women and illustrations of her favourite literature, including Shakespeare's plays and novels of Charles Dickens.

Out of Africa

Later Karen Blixen went to Africa and stayed there for many years. The movie  “Out of Africa” with Robert Redford and Meryl Streep from 1985 is well known all over the World, shows the life and story of the famous writer. The movie got The Oscar for best movie.
