Welcome to a skiing paradise in Nothern Norway. Norwegians are born with skis on their feet. In Narvik, alpine skiing occupies a big place in local hearts and the town itself is known as a skier’s paradise.
In the last few years, more and more ski fans also became aware of Narvik as a unique ski destination. It makes sense that Narvik has applied for the hosting of the World Championships in skiing in 2027 and it is Norway`s most urban ski area both for families and off-piste skier.
The starting point for everyone who comes to Narvik to ski is Narvikfjellet. The skiing area starts near the town at 200m, and the ski lifts take you up to 1000m in 10-15 minutes. The spectacular view from the top of the slopes is unique. The trail runs go almost down to the fjord.
For the experienced skier, Narvikfjellet can offer several red and black slopes from 1007 m. The ski resort is widely known for the spectacular off-piste skiing and breath-taking nature. In Narvikfjellet you can also enjoy a 9 km long cross-country ski trail.
Narvikfjellet opens a brand-new cable car in February 2019 to give their guests the best view experience. The cable car takes you up to The Mountain Restaurant 656 m.
You will find a fantastic panorama view of the town and surrounding scenery with rugged mountains emerging straight out of the ocean. There are several viewing platforms and benches where you can sit, relax and savour the view. There is no better place to explore Northern Light moments during the winter and unique Midnight Sun emotions in the summer.
