Banks
On normal weekday the opening hours for Danish banks are 9.30/10am to 4pm. Banks closing on Saturday and Sunday. Quit a lot of banks stay later open on Thursdays to 5.30pm.
Currency
The currency in Denmark is Danish Kroner (DKK). One krone is divided into 100 Øre. Coins are circulated in the following denominations: 50 Øre (copper) 1 Krone, 2 Kroner, 5 Kroner (silver, each with a hole in the centre) 10 and 20 Kroner (both brass). Regarding bank notes they are issued in denominations of: 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 Kroner. The maximum amount carrying in Denmark EUR 10,000, when travelling to or out of Denmark, you have to declare it to SKAT. This applies regardless of whether you travel to and from another EU member state or a non-EU member state. It is different what places accept. Some places takes Euros, American Dollars, Norwegian and Swedish Kroners, but you have to be aware of, that the exchange rate is not to your benefit. $10 converts to approximately 55 Danish Kroner €10 converts to approximately 75 Danish Kroner £10 converts to approximately 85 Danish Kroner. Danish ATM
It is no problem to find and withdraw cash from bank ATMs in Denmark with Visa, Cirrus, Euro or MasterCard. The ATM can be used 24/7, and you will be notified, before the withdrawal, of any charges you may incur.
Use of credit Cards
Credit cards of many International kinds can be used in restaurants, hotels, petrol stations and shops, but you will have to notify, that company has the right to charge you an extra fee. Not all of them do and you will be notified before making a payment, if an extra fee will be charged.
A lot of smaller shops and supermarkets do not accept international credit cards.
